PeerLearning.net

PeerLearning.net provides a teaching practices approach to SEL and offers programming for grades 4-12. Two CASEL-approved evaluations demonstrate evidence of effectiveness in grades 6, 9-10 and 6, 8, 9, respectively. PeerLearning.net is a piece of software designed to support teachers with integrating principles of cooperative learning into their lessons. A student-facing interface guides groups of learners through lessons via a series of task, discussion, and reflection prompts. The online interface can be presented in English, Spanish, and Italian.

Positive Action

Positive Action is a whole-school reform strategy designed to improve social-emotional and achievement outcomes by building school climate, self-control, goal-setting, problem-solving, persistence, and other skills. Students learn these skills through structured discussions and activities, games, and role plays. Teachers receive detailed manuals and materials to support 140 15-20 minute lessons per year (4 days per week). Parents also receive handbooks that parallel the school lessons.

Project Towards No Drug Abuse

Project TND is an effective, evidence-based substance abuse prevention program. This classroom-based, interactive program focuses on three factors that predict tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use, violence-related behaviors, and other problem behaviors among youth. The program provides detailed information about the social and health consequences of drug misuse, and provides motivation enhancement strategies, and includes instruction in active listening, and effective communication skills. It also teaches stress management, effective coping skills, tobacco cessation techniques, improved self-control, and decision making skills to counteract risk factors for drug abuse.

Demonstrated evidence of effectiveness utilized the training and implementation support model offered by SEL Worldwide.

Our Gatekeeper course is taught in a clear, concise format using the latest in educational technology and practices. The course takes approximately one hour to complete. Key components covered in training: How to Question, Persuade and Refer someone who may be suicidal; How to get help for yourself or learn more about preventing suicide; The common causes of suicidal behavior; The warning signs of suicide; How to get help for someone in crisis.

Additional outcomes:

Increased knowledge of suicide risk in school staff, increased knowlede and attitudes related to suicide in school staff

All early childhood training, staff development, and classroom instruction content is available in Mandarin.
