The 4 Rs (Reading, Writing, Respect & Resolution)
The 4Rs Program, offered by the Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility, provides a lesson-based approach to SEL. It includes programming for grades Pre-K-8 and demonstrates evidence of effectiveness at grades 3 and 4. Translated materials are available in Spanish.
The 4Rs (for Reading, Writing, Respect, and Resolution) is a program intended to improve social emotional learning as well as literacy for students in grades K-5. It uses high-quality literature to help students gain skills such as handling anger, listening, assertiveness, and cooperation, among others. The 4Rs provides teachers with a literacy-based curriculum of 21-35 lessons based on social-emotional issues. Teachers follow lessons with units on skills highlighted in the readings. Teachers receive 25 hours of training plus extensive coaching.

The Character Effect
The Character Effect, offered by Beech Acres Parenting Center, provides a lesson-based approach to SEL. It includes programming for Pre-K-6 and demonstrated evidence of effectiveness at grades 3-5.

Toolbox Project
Toolbox Project provides a teaching practices and lesson-based approach to SEL and offers programming for grades Pre-K-6. A CASEL-approved evaluation demonstrates evidence of effectiveness at grades K-2. ToolBox Project offers a teacher-facing online content portal that houses lesson plans, extension activities, printables for the classroom, implementation supports, and reports about the program’s research base. Student- and caregiver-facing materials are available in Spanish.

Wayfinder
Wayfinder provides a lesson-based approach to SEL and is offered for grades K-12. A CASEL-approved evaluation demonstrates evidence of effectiveness for grades 6-9 and 12. Wayfinder utilizes an online platform with an extensive teacher-facing activity library. The program focuses on developing students’ sense of belonging and purpose.

Well-being
Well-being, offered by Education+, provides lesson-based and academic integration approaches to SEL. Well-being offers programming for grades K-6. A CASEL-approved evaluation demonstrates evidence of effectiveness in grades 4 and 5. In addition to social and emotional learning, Well-being is built upon principles of positive youth development and service learning. The core curriculum comprises 15 lessons that align with the National Health Education Standards and includes additional activity cards and extension opportunities.

Zippy’s Friends
Zippy’s Friends is based on the coping theory and has been evaluated and found to improve children’s coping skills, social skills, emotional literacy, improve the class climate and reduce bullying. Read about the evidence behind Zippy’s Friends and the impact the programme has had on children and teachers.
Zippy’s Friends is based around a series of stories and the programme has 24 sessions of 45 minutes. The activities and stories are suitable for children of all abilities. The Additional Activities Booklet can be used as a follow-on programme to run Zippy’s Friends for a second year or to reinforce and consolidate the learning of the programme. There are also Home Activities to reinforce learning at home with parents and carers.
The six modules cover: Feelings, Communication, Friendship, Conflict, Change and Loss, Moving forward
Children develop their own positive strategies to deal with problems through engaging activities: listening to stories, discussion, games, role-play and drawing.
